Buying at Auction

All auctions held by ABA Associates are open to participation by members of the general public.

Online bidding

Bid in real-time online from wherever you are, using our online bidding service at: bidlive.abaassociates.com.au

Other ways to bid

Sellers are provided with a full receipt for all items consigned for sale. Your name address and telephone number are recorded on an Agency Agreement Form together with the reserve price set and agreed expenses and charges. You will be asked to sign this document as your contract with ABA Associates.

Absentee bidding

Leave an Absentee Bid using the Absentee Bidding Form. Your bids will be executed at the lowest price possible within your bidding limit. This service is complimentary.

Telephone bidding

Leave instructions and bid on the phone on lots with an estimate of $500 or more. This service is complimentary. We will call you during the auction just before the lot comes up for sale.

Buyer’s Premium

A Buyer’s Premium of 17.6% (including GST) applies on the hammer price for absentee and telephone bid lots.

A Buyer’s Premium 20.6% (including GST) applies on the hammer price on lots bought via our online platform. To avoid this additional fee you can place an absentee bid.

Payment

Payments can be made by credit card (Visa or Mastercard), EFTPOS, or via direct deposit to our account. There are no credit card fees.

Collection of Purchases

All collections must be by appointment.

Trust account

As a Member of the Auctioneers & Valuers Association of Australia (AAVA), we adhere to the strictest ethical standards. All sale proceeds are deposited in the Company’s Trust Account and net proceeds promptly paid to vendors on completion of sales.
